Behind Every Refinery There Is Finepac!

For a developing country like India, fuels form a very basis on which the wheels of an economy run. For every industry that contributes towards the Indian economy, fuel is an intrinsic component. Also, given the fact, the more than two-thirds of fuel that the country consumes is imported makes it a very precious commodity. The biggest enemy of the fuels in gaseous or liquid form is water or moisture. Even a small percentage of moisture present in the fuel can cause enormous problems while refining, transporting or when they are finally being used in combustion engines in vehicles or in industries. On the other hand, the fact remains that water plays a crucial role in our lives. Without water, it is impossible to sustain any plant and human life on this planet. Every living organism irrespective of its shape, size, and color needs water to survive. Hence every industry, particularly the refining industry has to ensure that water contamination is at lower than the permissible

Distillation Columns Used in Crude Oil Refining Oil & Gas- Finepac Structures

The distillation column is important equipment for crude oil refining. It is very similar to separating the product into different chemical components depending on the difference in volatility. The refinery uses two main types of distillation towers. They are : 1. Packed Type Columns  – The packed distillation column is a vertical tower packed with sections with ceramic raschig rings,, ceramic saddles or steel poles. The packing material is used to increase the surface area for mass transfer between the gas phase and the liquid phase during the distillation process. The process stream is heated before entering the column to cause partial vaporization.  As it rises above the tower, the steam is cooled. Light components continue to rise and heavy components condense and fall on the floor with liquid. The reboiler at the bottom of the column draws heat to create steam and removes lighter components from the liquid. Packed towers are generally only used to produce top and botto

A Brief Insight Into Column Systems And Their Various Components

Companies associated with chemical products and petrochemical processing would agree on the importance of column systems as well as its various components. If you are studying to become a chemical engineer, this would probably the first thing you would learn in your education days. A typical column system consists of column packing, packed column and several other components that make the column internals. These systems are installed in chemical processing plants that find extensive use during both thermal as well as chemical separations. With that information in mind, one must also have extensive knowledge about the different components that are there inside a column system. Since without these critical components, a column system will nothing be more than a series of pipes standing tall in a refinery. All of the column internals are collectively responsible for carrying out the separation processes efficiently. Different Column Components At A Glance The following is a
